Through the research I have developed for my Egyptian style theme, I have decided to experiment with more of a playful fun theme which I want to have emerge through the trend. I think this will be more of an innovative interesting way to adapt the tradional Egyptian style which is what I was originally planning on experimenting with.

The images above have inspired this new thought and I think it could work really well with quirky playful prints similar to the above. This will help add a modern element to the trend, however still show a link towards Eyptian print and colour.

Hoods / Hoodie's - Stereotypically worn by youths, links with grafitti / when CCTV became popular. I want to incorporate the trend within my street theme, taking a more modern sophisticated approach of the 'hoodie'.

I have found the image below from Peclers Summer 10 issue. I have found this inspiring with the baggy style loose fitting trousers and and hooded sweater. Urban and casual yet also feminine. The illustration style and the casual pose that links in with the surrowding street environment is what I aim to produce..

The below image of the decaying chipped wall and rusted pole inspires a similar effect with the below worn patch like area's of the trousers and washed out effects.

I really like the images above and think they capture really well the style I'm aiming for within my Egyptian theme. Especially the second image I think is really vibrant and futuristic in a way, which is want I want to make sure comes accorss within the trend - to look ahead of its time. I think the use of make-up, especially the dark eye-liner adds to the Egyptian glamour Cleopatra look..

I've found the ethical theme to be the one that's been the hardest to work from and develop, to come up with an original trend and not go down the route of vintage or eco-friendly clothing. My first idea within this theme was to look at sustainable architecture, and how this could be inspired with fashion, looking a shapes, colour and interior design.

While I thought this was an idea that could be developed with the amount of research materials there are within sustainable architecture, eco buildings / homes, I have thought there would not be much variation involved, from what I can think of at this stage. As the majority of the trend book uses imagery as a main focus I need the original idea to vary and be appealing to the eye for the reader, and not for example have pages with lots of imagery of different architecture and buildings. I don't think this would be interesting enough to create a trend from. 

With the help of Anya, I'm moving away from this idea, and have started to look at D.I.Y objects / jewellery / fashion / interior design..much more interesting I think! I've found some amazing DIY's as a starting point. The only concern with this idea, is the colour palette involved. As the subject is quite broad and there is not one colour palette associated with DIY to work from, however I want to use this to my advantage and look at various DIY projects and the colours involved and the trends of 2010 to work from to create my own colour palette.

Taking on a different approach, I want this theme to be aimed at sustainability, and today's economic climate, with the current recession being a huge impact on this, especially for 2012 where we could be leading into a double recession, DIY fashion and design will have a strong influence on consumers.

Practising drawing..

I've not drawn anything in a while so thought I'd have a bit of practice! At some point soon I will need to draw at least six to go in the trend book, so I really want to try and develop my drawing and be able to draw certain poses rather than just straight standing. The area's that I'd say need improving with this illustration are the legs. I find this part the hardest, as I don't think they're long enough and the shape isn't quite right for the position she is in. Also the arms haven't got enough definition in, as like the legs I'm not sure the shape I'm aiming for. I think I need to have a more in depth look at the Peclers fashion illustrations in their trend books and try and use those as a bit of a guide, and study the shapes of the arms and legs in different poses, although I don't want these to be too much of an influence as I really want to try and develop my own style.
